CSP is a not-for-profit Innovation & Research ICT organization devoted to Piedmont system development and technology transfer (whose shareholders are Torino Polytechnic, Torino University of Studies, CSI- Piemonte, Municipality of Torino, Torino Employer’s Association, Confindustria Piemonte, IRIDE Energia).
Every year CSP involves more than 140 peoples who are actively engaged in research project and development for the promotion of Piedmont competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy. CSP activities refers to different themes and they could be synthesised as: conduction of independent research and development activities aimed to share the results and strengthen the information society, dissemination of the results of research activities and best practices in the world, building of a pervasive open culture keen to use ICT in work, education, social and cultural life and fostering the global knowledge through the “Open Source Philosophy”.
CSP targets are technology transfer and the Information Society implementation through a strong synergy with academic institutions, private business and local government. The strong bond created with academic institutions through permanent laboratories with Turin Polytechnic and the University of Turin enables CSP to be a point of reference in service innovation and new technology management. Furthermore the strong synergy with Universities increases skill and knowledge of academic and researching personnel.
CSP is involved in several local, national and international research initiatives. On the international side, CSP actively participates in several networks focused in cooperating and sharing skills and knowledge in order to increase the Information Society and the use of ICTs. Moreover CSP participated in numerous international projects, collaborating with more than 50 partners in 19 countries both in and outside Europe. Nowadays CSP is realising 10 projects co-financed by the European Union, promoting partnerships and realising activities in several European countries. CSP also collaborated in different transcontinental initiatives, in particular achieving a significant presence in Latin America.
Within its activities aimed at favouring the development of Piedmont’s Information Society, CSP also conducts analysis and socio-economical research aimed to better support an increased ICT adoption as a development accelerator for Piedmont. As well as carrying out studies with local authorities and in support of the political decision concerning broadband requirement or ICT promotion, CSP takes part in international projects on comparative analysis of innovation in European Public Administrations.
